The first job I ever did on a range rover was to try to nail a drivers arm rest back on. The owner was bit of a short-arse and used the arm rest to pull himself into the car. It came off in his hand one day. That was an early model so access was available.
I know this doesnt help you in any way.

Re: The black primer on new panels
If stripper wont touch the black then it is phoretic primer and should be abraded with 180 and given a coat of hi-build or any decent primer. Often we now get panels in matt black adn this should be washed off and the panel etched.

Re: Dull rear lens surface
Go to Halfords and buy a tube of compound for 3.99 Get a cloth and buff your lens to a perfect shine. You can also take them off and give them a wash with warm soapy water and a paintbrush.

Hello chaps
The thing which really got me was how you can remove a webasto and sew in a piece of flat sheet steel using Mig and say that with a little filler it will be a lovely job. This would be a very skilled and time consuming job as the that metal is going to be 'a life on the ocean waves' as ...

Re: stone chip
Hello
I never tell people to buy top brand stuff on principle, but 3M stone chip is very good. The aerosol stuff is the best you can get in my experience. If you are using a shutzgun then the u-pol is pretty good. and most of the rest is well up to the job. A decent supplier wont bother with crap ...

Re: Cracked paint
Hello There
Splitting when paint is first applied is usually down to contamination. On GRP this is caused when the paint cannot fill splits or deep scratches. If it is too cold, you can get the same problem, but usually because the paint has been laid on too thick too quick.

Re: Insurance company wants to see my license -why?
When I asked what they wanted it for , all the girl said was that 'the insurance companies are now asking'. When asked why they could not check it electronically, she just reeled off the same answer.
