FORD ESCORT 1979 1300CC 4 DOOR

#1 Post by jimtylee »

Hi,
Wondering what a reasonable price to ask for my Escort off road due to no3 piston rings breaking ..body reasonable for the year....gearbox no noise...axle quiet ....clutch fine...new water pump....break master cylinder replaces 2 years ago...
front tyres new...back very good.....rad no leaks....always changed the filter and oil every 5 thousand miles....
tow bar.....nice after market front seats.....rear seatbelts.....i would rebuild the Kent engine but not up to it now...
I was thinking about asking 450 pounds......
thanks jim tylee

Jim, if it helps you to establish a price, the following link takes you to an example of the sort of MK2 4 door that's selling on C&C these days for somewhere around your figure:

Bashed up LHD project car here!

And no, I couldn't in fact find a single one on C&C in the UK (or the NECPWA site, the Gazette, etc.) because they're all on eBay, being snapped up by people with lots of disposable income.. support

Note that the eBay example has no metal between the inner turrets and the rails, or the chassis legs, the bulkhead, etc. Note also that the steering wheel is on the wrong side, that you'd need a lot of work and money to get that shell safe assuming you were a masochist to start with and also that the need to buy a new everything for that car isn't an issue at the sort of four figure sum it'll fetch!

Good decision, if you can't beat them, etc..

Your car looks sound enough and the way the bids are picking up pace already, you may be a rich man by this time next week.
