battery drill

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

its a concept 14.4volt. ive had them apart before to resolder a conection so changing the cells should be a doddle :D the company doesnt sell spares or replacements

At work, we get refills for the older laptop batteries and the mobile test gear from THESE. Click on "bespoke applications" to get an idea of the many different one offs they can supply. I had a bunch of cells from there for my Bosch drill a few years ago and that's still going but be aware that other parts of the battery pack can fail as well as the cells. Sometimes you'll need to check regulator packs (where these are part of the battery itself) and thermocouples.

It's no less straightforward than swapping out dead cells and if the cells are Lithium based, then doing the safety gear while you're in about at it is essential. With NiMH and NiCad you would be safe with simply swapping cells. ;)

This is how you do it:

I don't suggest trying some of the things in his other videos though.

Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.

Sometimes battery packs off other makes fit. It might sat Black & Decker on the case but very often the guts are the same as lots of others. Badge engineering is every where. Somebody out there will know what fits what and which is the cheapest.

Have a look on ebay for 14.4 battery. Looks like black&decker and Milwaukee use the same

I'd be very surprised if DeWalt and B&D things aren't also interchangeable.. ;)

Rich - Just had the same problem with my Dewalt 18v NiMH batteries that powers both my cordless combi drill and my impact driver - first battery died some time ago but now the second one has also died - new Dewalt batteries are £100 each with a new drill / impact driver + 2 x batteries = £250 but after a quick search found this company - link below - replacement batteries are £35 free p + p - so just ordered 2 and will see how I get on with them - just got to find someone that can dispose of the old batteries now
