Is it possible to test fuel injectors without connecting them to the fuel rail / ecu in a car? I have been given 16 spare injectors for my RR and don't really want to pull the fuel rail apart to test them and see if they are worth keeping.
I have a spare engine loom, fuel rail and pressure regulator so I can get petrol to them at the correct pressure but I have no idea how to trigger them or what to look for from flow or pattern.

Re: Testing fuel injectors off the car
Yeah, I bought a fuel injector tester for that purpose. You can run cycles and test flow, and leak down between injectors before and after cleaning. Most injectors can be cleaned and made as good as new once you replace filters, o-rings and pintle caps.

As a basic test I always just put 12v to them to see if the click.
