Aston Martin recalls 17,000 cars

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

Aston Martin recalls 17,000 cars

#1 Post by Mitsuru »

Aston Martin recalls 17,000 cars over possible defective part.
The Warwickshire-based luxury car maker said the recall accounted for most of its sports cars
built since late 2007. It follows the discovery that a Chinese sub-supplier was allegedly using
counterfeit plastic material in part of the accelerator pedal.

There are fears the pedal arm may break although there have been no reports of any accidents,
the firm said. A spokesman said it would now bring manufacture of the pedal arm back to the UK.

 Awww, poor doggy, she didn't know any better. Maybe she smelt some drugs up inside the mudguard? Funny thing is, I've never seen a dog sniffing around at - or any canine toothmarks in - the bodywork of any of my glass-bodied motors.

Silly bugger should have bought a Jaguar instead, I'd like to see a dog eat that!

My Spring collie hates cars (she's only been in the car once and it took sedatives and two people to get her in so we could take her to the vet!) but, while I like AMs, I'd get rid of the car first! The feller says the two dogs don't get on - perhaps a dog and a bitch would have been a better pairing.

Chinese parts on an Aston Martin at the price AM charge for a car. Serves the bastards right should have used a British supplier. At least the CE mark means something you can trust instead of Chinese Excrement!

CE marking means nothing at all I'm afraid. you are allowed to self certify which can get you in to trouble if you get caught but until a point, anyone can put that mark on anything.
Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.

Who's Mark and is he aware that nowadays, foundation garments for men are available and can completely hide that excessively generous kite thanks to the miracle of Lycra.
