Hi guys, new to this forum so I thought I would show you a couple of my past projects, was discussing TR7's with Fuzz at the NEC yesterday, MX5 engine in a TR ....tut tut

Anyway, as said the cars below are ones I have done and sold, current project is a pre production TR7, chassis number 13, built and registered early 75 it was a development car for BL before being released to the PR dept, it's currently at the media blasters so pictures of that o follow later .....if there's anything left !!

TR7 V8, I bought a new old stock TR7 shell, being a late spec shell it came with a factory sunroof hole, not being a big fan of sunroofs first job was to swap the skin.





Then the shell was taken away for media blasting (plastic)





After some minor body repairs my son helped paint the car as he was doing his apprenticeship.











Not forgetting the underside





While paintwork was ongoing at the body shop I got busy with the mechanicals and rebuilt everything including a 3.9V8









Then a case of putting it all together









Re trimmed seats











Apart from paint, trimming the seats and bonding the screen I did everything myself.

Another

Escort RS1600i, I owned this car twice, after selling it in original condition I bought it again several years later, although still pretty good it was ready for some work so I bare shelled the car. Mounted the shell on my turnover frame and removed all the old underseal and cleaned the look back to original factory primer. The body itself was very good having been stored off road though out winter for most of its life, it required only a replacement hatch as it had rusted under the rubber.

I fully rebuilt the engine having many items vapour blasted and passivated to original, all the suspension etc was rebuilt.

Soon after finishing it I sold it as it was too lean to use.

RS2000, a base model not a Custom.

I found this on EBay, it had been stored for a while but had suffered a few non standard additions. The base model is pretty rare as it never sold as well as the much better equipped Custom model. The car came as standard with steel wheels, non tinted glass, standard seats, no centre console, cheaper carpet etc etc

I replaced the front wings, front panel, slam panel, sliced the inner wings in half and replaced the full inner wing tops. Two secondhand doors were used and a replacement boot lid, again I restored all the mechanicals and rebuilt the engine.

The interior was re trimmed to standard spec, a genuine RS accessory long range fuel tank was fitted as well as an RS leather wheel (available as an option when new).

Again sold shortly after completion.

The car has changed hands a few times since and is currently on EBay but somewhat modified, not for the better.

I don't have a lot of pictures of this one, I restored this around 90/91, it had every panel from the windscreen forward replaced and new doors plus various repairs to the floor and chassis. The engine was rebuilt to Ford Group 1 spec running twin 44IDF Webers.

Do I get a prize for guessing where the Java roof skin came from?

All absolutely stunning cars you have there man, but the favourite for me has to be that RS1600i even though it's surrounded by older, RWD stuff. How? Because not only is it restored to an incredible standard but of all thae cars, it has easily the most "Where the f*** have they all gone?" factor. Love it to bits!

The roof actually came off another TR7 I owned at the time, not long after scrapping it Corgi got in touch to advise me they were basing a new model on it which was released only a few weeks ago ...
