I took part last weekend (I do every year) and I have to say I it is probably the last time I will go. Jeff and SIan do a great job, so not to put them down but its now nothing like it used to be and there are more modern and modified cars there than classics!
True, its called the 'County Run' and not a classic car rally but there was a time where they were getting significantly more than the 500 entry limit due to the popularity of the event. In my mind, some of the trouble is for some reason they allow ordinary bog standard everyday cars to enter but they have also now seemed to concentrate on the modified car scene and, I hate to say it, 'boy racers'. At the gathering point I got sick of jumped up Mk1 & 2 Escorts just continually revving their cars as they pulled up and in fact last year at the half way stop, some were told off for wheelspinning, donuting and generally driving like idiots. Its unfortunate but it then gives the run a bad name.
What other runs/shows around the country are good?
