Oil pressure relief valve is OK so Saturday's job is going to be swapping the rockers. At least it is an on-top of the car job so I don't get covered in crud again.

Make sure the shafts are at the correct orientation, the slots are not in the same direction on each side, mine had supposedly been re-built professionally but one was wrong.

Interesting, I had never thought to look. These were built by RPi who don't have the best reputation but I would hope they got them assembled the correct way round. I can't remember exactly how many miles this engine has done now but it is in the range of 30,000 so hopefully whatever it is that is causing the problem hasn't resulted in more serious damage. I don't fancy replacing the camshaft, getting them out with the engine in the car is a pain in the bum!
I now have my own (cheapo) oil pressure tester so I can see how bad the problem actually is now. I'll post some pressure readings at the weekend when I have had a play.

Woo, I think it is sorted. Replacement rockers and I appear to have fixed my oil pressure issue. I have acquired an irritating "tick" from the top end which I assume means that at least one of the rockers I have fitted is slightly worn. My memory says they are low mileage items but they have been in the garage for 3 years so my memory could be wrong. £70 rebuild kit is on it's way! new rocker cover bolts are coming too as I have misplaced one. I know I took 8 out but one has gone walkies :S

You know you'll find it just after the new ones arrive

I am hoping I don't find it in the sump

It'll roll out from under the scuttle moments after you fit the new ones.

I think it is in the bottom of the radiator fan cowl but as a new set is a whole £2, I'm not going to worry too much. Worst case scenario, I have 8 spares rather than 7.
