Hello Chaps
I am currently working on an old Spitfire. Will replace both Floorpans complete along with both Sill assemblies. First off I have jacked across both door apertures to make the doors fit within the gaps - as opposed to overlapping at the rear lower corners. Next step was to remove the drivers floorpan. Having braced the shell.
Trouble is that the floors have been added to somewhat. The originals are still there in spirit along with some patchwork. Then there is a second floor pan underneath, with a lot more patchwork.
And to top it off there is a third floor pan laid on the inside of the car.
Well it is out now and with it is a large bag containing about 10LBs of rust. Happy days.
Ps. In couple of months you will all get to see it and read about it in detail.
Regards Martin.
How many floors?
Re: How many floors?
I did the sills on my wife's Mini last year. One side was original but with lots of patches. The other had the original outer sill, patches on that, a wide cover sill, and patches on that... and the inners were three layers think in places too
I think I halved the 0 to 60 just by repairing it properly!
