breakdown truck

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

Not bad John - however wasn't it the Pacer that the fuel tank used to rupture on and explode in a ball of flames when anyone ran into the rear of them at 5 MPH ?

I thought that was the Ford Corvair - subject of Ralph Nader's book "Unsafe at any speed"

 Hmm, needs a good half dozen tins of T-Cut to sort that cab out properly but I can see the appeal of the thing.

You do realise that there's also a Transit pickup on the page where the Datsun is listed? Much more your sort of thing, no?

Ah yes, the joys of the bench seat and the column change. Add a foot-operated parking brake for the hat trick of Japanese retro eccentricity.

- Thought you were talking about my Javelin for a min, no foot operated handbrake but the leaver is tucked away under the dashboard to adjacent to the inner wing - far more comfortable than any Cabstar but then again the Cabstar with it's higher ride height hence clearer forward vision and the fact that it can carry close to a ton of builders tat & rubble has it's plus points - but I can bet that Rich like every builder has had his Cabstar loaded down to the spring stops on several occasions - more like 2 ton carrying capacity then ;)

Rich, this caught my eye. Most survivors are the later "upmarket" ( ;) ) Sisleys, this is the raw, crude and very capable original version:
