breakdown truck

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

Any K10 CVT is better than none at all, but the colour of that one left me underwhelmed. I must be turning as I enter middle age, the colour of a car never bothers me that much.. :?

And as for XJ6s with Diesel engines, OK, it's better than scrapping the cars but much as I enjoy the heavy oil engine and its many advantages, a Jaguar really ought to have a straight six which runs on petrol, there's always the LPG option for tightwads.

     @ the Datsun! That has had some welding in the critical inner wing area (I had a six year old first generation one with no wing rails left..) but if it's all good now, it is (that's a definite, no arguing please 'cos I'm right ;) ) one of the most desirable of all Sunnies, even including the fastback version on that shape.
Thank feck I no longer have the Minor shell. As it is, if my offer is sufficient, that Datsun will have a very lovely life indeed.

BUT.. Rich, old caravans are a thing of enormous loveliness. A mate - who owns the gorgeous S1 Land Rover that appeared in another forum thread recently, parked outside my place - is almost finished restoring his old caravan. I can't remember what make and model the thing is, but it's a GRP shell, none of that wood and aluminium nonsense for him, and it's a real hop backwards in time to look at so I can only conclude that although you were right to feature that Sunny, you need treatment for your caravan phobia, especially lovely old caravans that probably still stink of the last homeless person who squatted in them.
;)

Nah, that Datsun's going to end up as a Morris Minor engine & gearbox donor car unless you withdraw your statement of caravan dislike. Or maybe [the Datsun] could be hung from a wire and used as the wrecking ball on a field full with Renault bloody Clios!
:P

Who said anything about staying in a caravan, you silly arse. creature comforts are my domain, my missus would throw a right hissy if she thought we were staying anywhere other than a four or five star hotel. The caravan has to be of similar vintage to the car so that they can be displayed together, got that? That's displayed together. I have to repeat these things because I know your grasp of life is limited to those unbelievably bland Datsun cars.
Cue drool emoticon,
If you think they are the dogs b*ll*cks then my missus will think that glamping is duvets instead of sleeping bags.
What I plan to do is to convert my Sprinter into a car carrier, so that we can go to Jollies with the car on the carrier and the caravan in tow. Once there, the car will hitch up to the caravan and finish the last few hundred yards of the journey. The pick up van will be discretely hidden away.
This is the sort of thing that I have in mind:

display a caravan? are you trying to keep up with the neighbours? of sounds rather pointless to me.. staying anywhere that isnt home always involves a hotel, we are not savages!!
now off to look for some datsuns to calm my nerves now
