breakdown truck

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

Meh, these are all far too heavy for tricycle VED (Peugeot 303 apart), so what's the point? Come to that, the Reliant Ant is too heavy but I know of several in Scotland that are taxed as tricycles, including one that used to belong to a certain reigning monarch, known chiefly for her taste in geometrically peculiar, fluorescent headwear. Tut tut, naughty Balmoral grounds staff.
:scared:
Speaking of Her Majesty, wasn't she amazing at Glastonbury last night? Surely she must be the only reigning monarch as well as the only 90 year old (Brucie excepted..) to have performed at the famously muddy performing arts event?
You didn't see her performance? Shame, she belted out a most excellent version of Elvis' "Burning Love".

The above may not have happened, but given that the news is full with equally bizarre happenings these days, who can be sure? ;)

Attend Glastonbury? I would rather sit in a Morris Marina and stick pins in my eyeballs.
Be seen anywhere near a member of the royal household, make that an Austin Maxi.

Now that is somewhere where I would have loved to have been this afternoon as the Legend stage plays host to the fantastic 'Jeff Lynne' of ELO fame - never mind he is on Beeb 2 at 18.30 tonight and I have no doubt that there will be a few repeats - fortunately I did get the chance to see him live at the o2 Arena in London at little earlier this year (after waiting 40 years to him perform live) Nothing but brilliance from this guy - sorry for the slight deviation of topic but you did mention Galstonbury

NB - Nothing sounds better than ELO on the stereo in my Rover P6 whilst at 70 mph :D
1937 Jowett 8 - Project - in less pieces than the Jupiter
1943 Jowett Stationary Engine
1952 Jowett Jupiter - In lots of peices http://Jowett.org/
1952 Jowett Javelin - Largely original
1973 Rover P6 V8 - Original / 22,000 miles

Hmm, your P6 must have a louder radio and/or more soundproofing than the majority of the breed. ;)

Seriously though, thanks for the heads up, I'll give BBC2 a go later. Meanwhile, your mentioning ELO has made me dig out my copy of Face The Music, stick it on the turntable and fire up the big nasty amplifiers. Have no fear, my neighbours won't lose out, I'll make darned sure they can hear it too.

(About half a minute into Fire On High, there's some scary backwards talking, what is he saying? :? I've tried repolarising the motor on the turntable and playing that bit backwards, but it made no sense that way either, and now my mucking about has caused the motor - a doubtless stupidly costly audiophool affair - to lose its field, so when I try to start a record in the usual manner, it's just as likely to start backwards as forwards.
Do I reverse the action of the velocity trip too, so that it can start at the wrong end, or would anyone like to buy a bi-directional turntable)?

I found a photo of the tricycle's occupants, taken a few minutes before they drove along the big, scary road:

No idea what the woman is doing there, she looks perfectly normal to me. :?

Sado by name, etc. Want it! Shame it's in Portugal and that the seller's negative feedback is for not posting stuff. ;)

Is it wrong to be attracted to the butchered modified Triumph? I can't imagine how many hours must have gone into making that look as though it was built that way, but imagine the looks on the faces of the concours d'état purists when it rocks up at a show! That thought alone must add to its value, which must be around £532.07 if not even more. :|

 That Nissan appears to be a good find. One advisory on minor rust in its o/s/r wheelarch and an otherwise very encouraging MOT history (no earlier mentions of body corrosion) makes it a fair buy, even at its asking price - IMHO of course. I also like the boot, which looks big enough to contain at least two murdered tramps.

GHT will surely love the tastefully appointed white thing, we already know that he owns the perfect shoes to wear when driving that one.
