breakdown truck

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

Hmm, I must confess to having glanced at the Datsun but dismissed it as the steering wheel is on the wrong side and besides, they're pretty slow and thirsty compared to certain other Japanese jalopies of similar age, but then I hadn't noticed that it has a Diesel engine and blue carpets. I love (blue) carpets, me!

I could learn to love the heavy oil engine all over again I suppose.

Lots of love for anything with an A-series Citroen motor under the bonnet, yes. Fabulous wee things, especially the forced induction ones found in Dyanes and Visas. Most excellent.

  Get it registered, shove some fresh tyres on it, give it a good service and flush its fluids through, then get it out on the road and drive the thing. That's only the same price as a new entry level Golf 1.6TDI SE with the dry DSG7 and a whole load of other worryingly fickle gadgets. Proper traditional auto that is, and almost as good as a Chap built one.

€450 for a crushed old Benz! Is that the fee for taking it away? Someone’s having a laugh, or am I missing something?

Another Matra mutilation. Do you do this to wind me up :o As for the Merc, it looks as if what they are selling is the identity.
