#1 Post by robo0121 »

Hi all bought some alloy wheels for my vitesse the only downside
is the nuts that came with them don't fit my studs.im pretty sure
the stud size is 3/8 unf if someone can verify that I would be grateful
also ive been offered a set of mini alloy nuts..would they fit.??

IIRC, the thread is the same, but the taper on the end is different. I could well be wrong though - it's about 40 years since I had a Mini!

Vitesses studs are 3\8", 24tpi, what you need however are nuts that are not only the correct thread, but also with the correct angle seat for the wheels that you have: some alloys have flat holes and need a shouldered nut, some have tapers, usually 60°...what alloys do you have? If
they're wide ones, and you're planning on running with fat tyres it might be a good idea before you do anything else to upgrade the studs- the standard ones are pretty marginal with anything more than standard rims (I've stripped a couple with nothing more than 5.5J GT6 rims) The usual upgrade is a set of freelander studs- much stronger but the same spline pattern.
