I am a big fan of the long running series "A touch of frost" which ran from 1992-2010, but the amount of classics that feature in it is an added bonus.Det Frost used to have a Volvo 200 series estate that nearly got crushed at a scrappy by mistake.He also had a long suffering Ford Sierra that had to speed through water, down ramps, through rough ground to name just a few.He had only one brake light ,He never washed it either.
He was also a slob, everything and anything threw around the car, his home, and the nick, eating chips, which probably went on the seats too.A lot of different people seem to be driving it at speed around corners too.Later on he drove a Vauxhall Astra estate.

I've seen that repair being needed on some Sierras in their second year with a whole year remaining before their first MOT became necessary. The stress was caused by rot through the chassis leg that rises from the bulkhead/floor seam into the engine bay where it picks up the inner wing and suspension turret reinforcement gusset area. Ford invariably sent a truck, loaded the car and covered it with a tarp, then carried it off to Henley's (then the main dealers) where some suit from Ford management would come and examine the car. In some cases, they'd shut the problem up by giving the customer a new car, in some they'd have the chassis leg and inner wings replaced without hesitation.

I jacked the car up under the body, the front aligned itself & we welded the front back together.. i ran the car for another 6 months & then my brother had it for a year or so..
it was probably stronger than the rest of the car.. it was a good old bus that smoked around 60 a day...till i put a carb from an abandoned cortina on it
