Has anyone else noticed the prices of some BL Cars has started to move abit i been watching the prices of allegro, maxi, marinas and normally they are very cheap for a good condition car, take an allegro alittle rust around the edges and no MOT would normally stay around 100 mark but recently i seen a fair few going for upto 150 or even 300 sometimes in the past few months.
I think it good news to tho as the marina, allegro have been left behind abit, what with the Escort mk1 prices and avengers it about time they begin to move up abit. love hear your views

Mid to late 70's and even the AR Group 80's cars are steadily climbing in value.
Your right about the grolegs, they are really starting to earn some good money in the right condition or the right spec.
I have seen 80's base spec Metro's and Maestro's go over the grand mark, and even exemplary MG EFI Models are now hitting what most thought was Turbo Money.
Mind you Some Barely tidy Montego turbo's are making over a grand without a test!.
I think these are signs of a resurgance of interest in 70's and 80's cars in general, as other Makes are also showing increases in value.

Quite a few marques seem to be on the up at the moment, not just the ones OP mentions.
Thankfully though not the the MX5 which is good news for me as I like mine and I quite like them being nice 'n' cheap for parts

i think your right MG mal,
I also think take or leave it but Top Gear might have done some good in this as it made people remember " oh my dad had one of those went on hoilday alot in it" or that was my first car it wasn't that bad " that sort of thing sort of bringing it back into the light of people who had forgotten and now want to relive there young years, even tho there a few people who would like destroy as many marina's as they can, there are people even younger than me now looking for a marina as a first classic so that shows something.
so did help in some ways take the princess prices before top gear very underpriced after top gear there were signs of prices going up and now prices seem more fair to the car in general.

And just prove the point there is an 78 Allegro auto for sale within the classic trade at the present - on the good side it has only covered 16,000 miles but it is dodgy brown metalic and for sale at £4,750 - a very smart VDP Allegro changed hands at a recent west country auction for £2k with 30,000 miles and appeared for resale a week later at £3,500 and has since sold.

Those are crazy prices! You could get a proper classic such as a Morris Minor in good condition for that money.Grumpy Northener wrote:And just prove the point there is an 78 Allegro auto for sale within the classic trade at the present - on the good side it has only covered 16,000 miles but it is dodgy brown metalic and for sale at £4,750 - a very smart VDP Allegro changed hands at a recent west country auction for £2k with 30,000 miles and appeared for resale a week later at £3,500 and has since sold.
I used to drive an Allegro and I know what they are like.
