breakdown truck

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

Is there a shortage of Fords in Frogland? If I needed a cheap estate I would get this (or something similar)

£500 so you don't have to care that much about it. it is almost cheaper to replace the whole car than the cambelt at a dealer ;)

I don't think anybody on this forum would criticise you for buying an OVLOV. You can easily spend 4x as much on a Mondeo of that year, I just picked the cheapest reasonable looking one. The TDDI engine is not exactly quick but it will run for ever, the TDCI is quicker and I know that they will do over 150,000 (not the 1.6, it is merde but fortunately not available in the Mondeo).
Is there not Le Autotrader over there with a handy index of every car for sale in the country?

What, even when the Volvo in question has a VW TDI engine? Imagine the dilemma. ;)

The OVLOVs I see every day belong to the inlaws and look like this:

Not all that practical as a family car but put the right trailer on the back and they are damn handy for things like moving house (or in the case of these ones, empyting tanks of "waste")

Well it does have 180,000 miles on the clock.
I would say at that mileage the tensioner is not unreasonable. I have never had an a/c compressor fail but they have to happen sooner or later.
Turbo hoses are service items so they probably got missed and replaced when one finally blew
The fuel lines on the TDCI / TDDI are also service items.
Battery and alternator aren't unreasonable things to replace at that mileage. the ones on mine was done at 130,000.
Belts are service items.
Nothing there looks dodgy. In the UK I would expect to pay substantially less than that for it but if left hand drive cars are a premium and that one is realistically priced and close to you, Mondeos are comfortable barges to cruise about in.

What on earth happened to that?!?!?! It is amazing the strange things people do to their cars.
