Car SOS - New Series!!!

Please don't feel sorry for me, I am absolutely chuffed to be involved with the series. I can't thank Fuzz enough for the opportunity to be on it. I just hope there is a series 3. You'll all have to get onto NatGeo to make it happen.

Tim is really nice bloke. What you see on screen is Tim. He is no different on or off camera and totally genuine. I can say that with no prompting from anybody. We all have a great time together including all the film crew and I think that comes across on the show.

The SP250 looked stunning in the 'flesh'. The quality of the paint work was a credit to Nathan Barber who painted it and Richard who prepped it. The body took about three and a half days from start to finish to do. If I had three and a half years it would still look crap!

Sports cars of that period look stunning on wires. Tin wheels are for the family box!

Sorry Fuzz for calling the SP250 a 'Plastic Alpine'. That baby hemi sounded the mutts nuts.

BTW the Cortina GT donor car has been sold and is currently undergoing a full restoration by one of the crew off the series.

It would be nice to be able to see this programme. Stuck here in the Middle East without access to the relevant channels it's impossible to get hold of at the moment.

Thankfully, some kind person made the first series available (cough.....torrent....cough) so I saw that and thoroughly enjoyed it

That's brilliant news...but surely begs the question how is it going to be restored if the unobtainable parts that were robbed off it are just that...unobtainable?

I watched Car SOS for the first time last night (the Cortina GT episode) and have to say that I didn't really enjoy it

It's nothing to do with the presenters and I love seeing classics being put back on the road but I woud rather see more of the how. It just seemed as if the show went from shell to completed restoration - with a few distractions along the way to fill the schedule.

Not suggesting that the show needs to be a step by step how to but I would imagine that a lot of people wathcing own and work on their classics and would appreciate a few tips.

I will keep watching but if Tim suggests another red vinyl roof i will be turning off

Hi Alan.

Unlike the 'new owner' of the 4 door Cortina GT we had less than 3 weeks. Parts are still available mainly in Australia. I think it was called the GT500 over there. Time limited us to using a donor car. It's the first time we have used a donor car. The original Anglia was beyond safe repair. The A post finished just below the windscreen aperture. Below that it was iron lace! Virtually everywhere you looked it was very serious corrosion. The roof, boot lid and bonnet had the least corrosion. Note I said least and not no corrosion. It was a 'rot box' plus!! The Titanic is probably more restorable. On the surface it looked reasonable but once you started stripping it, oh dear. As you saw another Anglia was bought and that was restored. That one had to have new rear chassis rails and large areas of the floor and most of the boot floor replaced. No attempt was made to hide the fact it was a different car to the original Anglia 1200.

Keep watching to see more amazing restorations including one that was re assembled in around 16 hours after the paint reacted twice and had to be rubbed down each time. Even the camera guys joined in to strip it! That episode goes out on...........................................................

keep up the good work (i think i should write in and offer my 83 y/o dads Wolseley 6 110 as a project..owned since '68 but dry stored since the early 80s)
