tony benn

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

Nothing to do with his politics but if there is a bad time to die, I think it's in the Spring :!: When my time comes, I hope I get to see out the Summer (If we ever have another Summer) :!:

That only gives you a couple more months ;)

I worked with one or two left wing teachers (they aren't as common as people think!) and one used to go to the talks that Benn used to do. I said I thought the man was believable when he spoke but, a few minutes after hearing him, I used to realise what a load of bull he'd actually said. I nearly fell over when the teacher agreed with me - and said that he only went to the talks because it was so funny!

I gather that he had been ill for some time, so I am glad that he is now out of the pain that he suffered. As rich said, he was honest in his opinions and didn't bow to the press like 99% (or more) of the current MPs and you can only respect him for that.
