Not a huge amount of time on the vogue today but done some nice jobs.

So, rivets and rivet gun to hand, I started by sorting the trim clips out ready to fix to the bodywork..until I realized the bloody rivets were too big. mine were 4mm but i needed 3mm. now, I realize I could have drilled the holes bigger but no..a quick trip to screw fix and I picked this set up..very reasonable too.

Fitted the side trims, polished the headlights and fitted the chrome surrounds.

Fitted the bonnet catch and vin plate etc

And finally gave the old girl her identity back

Grabbed a few hours on the vogue today and loved every bit!
Managed to get the front end done with the exception of the scuttle panel (going to paint that next weekend) and a few bits and bobs which will go on once the screen and new seal is fitted.
Cleaned all the chrome with autosol and a coat of Harley wax before fitting and sorted a few issues with some of the fixings so that any future strip downs etc will be a lot easier.
Trial fitted the new number plate with some double sided tape just to see the effect (as you do)

And just to finish the day off, thought id clean and fit one wheel embelisher and centre disc and see what they would look like. Just the look I was looking for, the powder coating of the rims really set things off well.

I dont go for photo effects etc, usually just point and shoot, hoping for the best.
took this earlier and the flash didnt flash..makes for quite a menacing shot in my eyes..

Getting there now.

I have to agree! almost a shame to drill them..lol. i need to pick up some rubber tap washers this week to use as packers between the rear of the plate and mounting bracket to stop the plate bending and distorting inwards when tightening the fixings.
I can almost sense the open road!
one thing I have considered is taking the left hand spot off and running with just the fog lamp..quite like the single spot look so often seen.

Kev - Now looking the part !! glad you changed the plates as it's now looking as it left the showroom back in the 60's - You can now be justifiably smug both about the car and the hard work you have put into it ! ;)

I'm not sure about taking a lamp off - I seem to think that there was something in a later regulation about having a pair of lights rather than a single one - and that cars before a certain age could have a pair at least 14" apart, while later ones had to have them within 16" of the side of the car. I may be wrong of course - and there would probably be some provision for older cars (pre 60's), but I would check the rules before taking one of yours off!

I'm not sure about the blue tyres though - I certainly never saw those in the 60's!

I think they're just a protective covering of film over the whitewalls to keep them clean. Looks the same as the blue film new number plates come covered with.
