Re: flooded car..
my Mrs did exactly the same to a xantia, insurers didn`t bat an eyelid.
they class the vehicle as irreparable as they don`t know what the water contained (swage and the like) I wouldn`t bother too much as it will be a w/o. Concentrate on the cosmetics if you must to dive the settlement

drive not dive
Re: flooded car..
I wouldn't have thought insurers would have a problem paying for it to be fixed / replaced. how bad was the flood? is it running just a wet interior or has the engine injested lots of water in which case a dehumidifier won't fix that.

The garages around here refer to Renaults from 1990+ as Renault Migraines.
The more modern the car the worse they usually are apparently.

Re: flooded car..
thanks for that chaps, the car is running fine. it was filled up to the height of the sills. i will give it a quick clean today. there are a few electrical problems though...
Re: flooded car..
I'd be worried about the electrics on a Megane even in perfectly dry weather, let alone after being in a flood....
My advice - don't get drawn into what could be a long, painful and expensive saga.
All the best with it!

Some people are like Slinkies - they serve no useful purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them downstairs.
Re: flooded car..
thanks mate, im hoping the insurance will play ball & write it off as its full of gadgets that look really expensive to replace.. im just trying to dry it out for the moment... finally got the boot open & sucked out a gallon or two of water.. the floor is a plastic panel....

Re: flooded car..
It's the risk of E Coli, Norovirus etc that they worry about. Personally, I'd be more than happy to rip the seats and carpets and replace with a good set from a breaker, but I have access to high level sanitisers and disinfectants, so finding the odd "Jobbie" in the glovebox wouldn't worry me provided I had a bunch of blue roll and some marigoldsmegadethmaniac wrote:my Mrs did exactly the same to a xantia, insurers didn`t bat an eyelid.

Landrovers and Welding go together like Bread and Butter. And in the wet they are about as structurally sound
