You are so demanding John, F1 cars only use 1 nut per wheel so I can't see a problem with doing it on your daily driver. That would mean you could have enough for £18.34. Plus the weight saving must mean better economy and more performance. as it is un-sprung weight that you are losing the handling will improve too

Call me old fashioned but I tend to worry if a member is short of nuts.

Also using Barry logic, could you not just weld the wheels on and be done with it?

You are forgetting that Barry can't weld. Although, they may flush the wheel nut holes in with filler after removing the nuts to help aerodynamics.

Oh you guys.... I only need 12 because I have 4 locking wheel nuts that fit properly. Ergo, 4 times 4 is 16 minus 4 is 12. No HI I'M BARRY SCOTT!!!! BANG AND THE WHEEL IS GONE action here*.

I can has the choonz! Okay, so it's not fully properly installed because to make the radio sit in the dash perfectly I have to remove the binnacle to screw it all in place as there's no cage for the radio with these dashboards. But, my brown Panasonic radio-cassette is now wired in and fully functional. It has a delightful yellowy glow when turned on and while it is stereo, my car only has enough wires for Mono and the radio goes louder than the factory door speakers can cope with... not ideal then, but it's better than driving in silence. Here's a rubbish picture.


Additionally, Dad did some hunting while I've been catching up with my man-flu and injury related work back log and has ordered a set of 12 correct brand new wheel nuts direct from Lotus for £50 (inc. postage) because he experienced how rubbish my tyres are in the wet and would rather see me safe on the tyres fitted to the Lotus alloys. It's also because he thinks the Lotus alloys are awesome and he commented with amazement at how much better the car now feels as a passenger than it did when I first got it.

I don't know why, but today feels like a bit of a milestone. I feel rather positive about my old boat. So that probably means something is about to go terribly wrong.

Running some after-market wiring to your speakers is a fairly trivial job. I have wired several cars for stereos that didn't come with them from the factory and it is a comparatively cheap job to do if a bit fiddly getting the wires concealed behind trim / under carpets. Please say you have only wired in the left channel and not shorted the two together.

Dad did the wiring, he's qualified for that sort of thing where I am not. I've never had a car with stereo sound so I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything only having mono. Dad's a stickler for undoing bodgery wherever possible and undid some bodges to the wiring to make sure the radio was fitted neatly. My job is to sort out the spare wooden fascia so the radio sits square in the dash, at the moment it's just sort of pushed into the hole but it doesn't come out because the car rides so smoothly it can't jiggle about.

I bought a cage to fit the radio in for the Landy, it wasn't terribly expensive, but makes life a little easier!

I think my radio (another eBay purchase) is a Panasonic - it's still in storage until I get the Landy roadworthy - and I tried it on the cage when the cage arrived and was most impressed - it will make life a lot easier for the local toe-rags!

Similarly, as the Landy hadn't a radio, I went on eBay and bought some cheap speakers and some decent cable that could handle the power. OK, I won't be able to hear the radio over the engine noise, but at least pedestrians will get the chance to hear Pink Floyd as I drive past and may not notice how noisy the engine is!

Strangely, my feedback "score" has gone up considerably since I bought the Landy...
