Dream Collection.

We used to have these on the old forum and I used to like them as an excuse to escape to another world . Lets say budget and storage is not an issue and that you can add five vehicles to your existing collection. What would they be (And would you keep your existing collection)

Mine would be (In addition to what I already have).

Something like a Morgan 4/4, HRG, MG Midget or Austin 7 Ulster/Nippy from 1939 or before. A Bugatti T35 or similar would have a lot in its favour but I have a liking for the traditional British sports car, like this fabulous MG PA.




My other four would be:-

Mini Cooper 1275 S.

Lotus Elan Sprint (Preferably the one my father owned).

Riley RMB (Or Perhaps a Z Series MG Magnette).

If the present owners would sell, my father's 1951 Frazer Nash Le Mans Replica or my grandfather's XK 140 Jaguar but failing that, I'd think I'd go for a Series Land Rover.

My wish list is

Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato
Jaguar XKSS
FMR Tg500
Peel Trident
Citroen DS Familiale

and I'd sneak in an Aurelia B20GT when no one was looking.

I would keep the existing toys too - but the above give me
a luxury GT car and motorway mile muncher
a race car
a rally car (the Tg)
a proper toy (the Peel)
and something to tow with and lug loads

I'd keep the smart roadster as a toy for when petrol reaches £2 a gallon
the XMs as the every day cars for the daily commute
the Mochet just cos I would never find another in britain
the schmitt cos I've had it since 1987
the Berkeley as I need something to restore and the Bond as I have been slowly finding bits I need for it.

Definately a PA. The P type Midgets (PA & PB) were the last of the OHC Midgets. The T types were brought out as simpler OHV cars, that used Morris based engines; the TA used the 1292cc JP engine and then the TB used the well known 1250cc XPAG engine, that lasted until it became XPEG for the TF1500. T Types were bigger than the earlier J and P type Midgets. I wouldn't mind a TA or a TB, as both would be elligable for VSCC events.

I'd probably add:

68 Shelby Mustang GT500 convertible. (Yes they made a handful!)
Mk1 Austin Cooper S 1071 in Almond Green
60' Mercedes 220S(?) convertible.
Split-Window sunroof VW Beetle.
70's Innocenti Mini Cooper 1300 Export.

EDIT: I'd probably keep my current collection too, but restore the Traveller, MR2 and Beetle.

Riley Silhouette automatic (Farina-bodied 4/68 shaped thing with cut-down fins and other body & performance mods, for those who don't know what it is)

Reliant Rebel 1600GT prototype (if they haven't already cut it up and scrapped the bits)
Daf 55 Coupé
Rover P5B saloon (must be the same shade of non-standard, two-tone beige as the coupé version driven by Ken Stott in "Toast") Or was that a saloon? I've wiped it from my PVR now, so can't check.....
Pre-1975 Maxi 1750 auto.

Loads more that I've always fancied, but too little space, too far away from home, etc.
