Range Rover Wood Picket
Range Rover Wood Picket
I have a Range Rover Classic by Wood Picket with 5.0L Turbo motor and I'm about to start getting it back on the road with a view to selling later on. I'm struggling to find any info about them and values if anyone has any ideas?
Re: Range Rover Wood Picket
whats a standard one worth?
Re: Range Rover Wood Picket
Wood and Pickett are still trading and are mostly known for their special minis. Maybe getting in touch with W&P would throw up some info about the Range Rover?
I vaguely remember hearing something about such a vehicle from the '80s but short of contacting its creators, can't think of a way to find out more.
Fire email at them: info@woodandpickett.com
Get on the dog to them: 01372 388 248
Or, as you're down South, wander in and have a chat with someone at Old Station Approach Leatherhead Surrey UK KT22 7TE.

A quick google and vast amounts of information pops up:

Wood and Pickett have one pictured on their website (2nd pic down) http://www.woodandpickett.com/about/ and are very proud of their history so if you were to give them a ring with your chassis number they may well be able to provide you with the original order details so you can see exactly what your car should have.
I am still jealous that you have that but I think the Mrs would kill me if I got hold of another one :S
Edit:
I have just seen that Wood and Pickett are responsible for the ugliest range rover ever,
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the Range Rover SD1

Re: Range Rover Wood Picket
Well I never! I knew of the Sheer Rover but hadn't realised that we have W & P to blame for the thing.
The vehicle I was thinking of was more standard looking but had a bed, much like the one owned by a certain dead pervert from Leeds.

Re: Range Rover Wood Picket
Hard to price as they are quite rare but check this Kensington dealers CSK Range Rovers out (of which only 200 were built) he has them pitched at £45k & £65k

I think that your W & P is rarer than the CSK - so if you can get your motor into mint condition I would think you are going to be into the CSK price banding

Re: Range Rover Wood Picket
For the record, I have seen CSKs with an MOT go for £2-£5k at the tattier end, It depends how good the finish is as to what they are worth. I was amased to see an LSE made 21 cars after mine with no MOT and no hope of getting one in the near future go for £2500 but a 1995 300tdi with an MOT go for £600.
Pete M had one but he hasn't joined the new forum or he would be the one to ask.

Re: Range Rover Wood Picket
I managed to start it today without too much fuss, though the immobiliser is playing up and I had to run a wire from the coil to the battery to get her going. She has that horrible rattle from being stood too long so am going to remove the rocker covers and soak it a bit. I don't want to flush it as I'm not sure if this motor will have the same issues with flushing as the 3500 version. It certainly needs a tidy up and some paint but I'm still waiting for my hoist to be connected so I can have a proper look underneath.
Re: Range Rover Wood Picket
As long as it is building oil pressure it will just take it a few minutes running to fill the tappets and quieten down. I assume it has had a small block Chevrolet engine fitted as it "just fits" or it is the 3.9 stroked out to 5.0? Either way the hydraulic tappets are noisy buggers when empty.
