Been busy sorting a new gearbox into the 528i....after having the wrong one delivered. The old box blew and if anyone on here is using any variation of the ZF4HP22 then heed this warning....the older versions (3hp22 and 4hp22 with non switchable selection) WILL pack up if you rev them in either park or N. This is due to a design flaw that has no pressure relief valve/mechanism. So if you need to change the rad or bugger about with the cooling system, bleed the car only at idle rpm. Also...the E28 528i has a unique box with four bolt output flange and certain depth bellhousing. Anyway...I also painted the alloys, sorted out the MK11 3.4 and the C36 AMG which are both going to auction at the end of the month.
Love the BMW, a customer of ours had one with the M27 (I think) 2.7 ETA engine, went like stink and had a reg very similar to yours: C762 CHU. Unfortunately she literally drove it though a house and wrote it off.

Interesting tip about the auto box blowing up. Mine (E28 520i) did after a long layup. I'd changed the oil and filters, but to no avail - it threw all its toys out of the pram while overtaking a tractor.
So I bought a scrapper with a manual 5-speed and converted it, which was a fairly easy job.
