Pre 1978 British Cars sought for filming

Hi everyone, we are shooting a short film set in SE London in 1978. The film is called The Last Waltz and centres around Maggie, a 9 year old child, and her relationship with her grandfather.

We are re-creating the 1970s in every detail and will be shooting it in the manner in which films were made in the 70s, ie on film, not digitally. Specifically, 16mm film. We have a terrific cast of well known actors such as Geoff Leesley, Barbara Thorn, and Alex Edwards among others. We also have on board Shaw Taylor of Police 5 who is coming out of retirement to help. Barry Mason, writer of numerous hits from the 60s and 70s including Humperdinck's The Last Waltz and Tom Jones' Delilah has also kindly allowed us access to his fantastic catalogue. Sham 69 are also in the project. We have also had great support from Raleigh Chopper clubs, one of whom has agreed to make some bikes available.

We will be filming on 14, 15, 16 June in the Charlton area of South east London. To make the exterior street scene come alive and look as genuine as possible we are looking for some 1970s cars to be in the street. They need to be pre 1978. This short promo film is to screen to a group of investors who have a substantial budget available for the production of our feature film 137, from which script The Last Waltz is adapted. We therefore need to create a short of sufficient quality to demonstrate the audio/aesthetic to our investors and unlock the funding.

What are the terms? Nobody is going to drive to London for three days, unless they are very local to the shoot, at their own expense.

Hi Pete, you're right, should have explained a bit more...the external shoot is on one of the three days only, the other two days are for interior filming. It's best suited to anyone who is near to Charlton and would like their car on a short film Basically there's a short scene where Maggie is bouncing up a road on a space hopper. To make the street look realistic we'd like to have some period cars parked up as she rides past. Most streets in London these days are rammed with modern cars parked nose to tail but the little road we've found seems to be empty most of the time

Hi there sorry for the late reply, been extremely busy with the production. Thank you for the suggestion for the Moggie, it's lovely, however Essex will probably be too far to travel from. We will be filming in South East London so will suit someone who is close to this part of London. This negates the need for acommodation. We will have a caterer on site for food. As far as expenses I totally appreciate that. As with most short films we are operating on a no budget basis. No budget never means no budget in real terms as there are inherent costs that need to be paid for. What we don't have is a budget for associated expenses of the type you need. I understand that travelling for the shoot does incur petrol/wear and tear on the vehicle. That is why I stated that this would suit someone who was close to SE London. We are receiving assistance from people who are interested in adding their pride and joy to a period film.

The short film is to lock down the investment for the feature film. It is a trailer to screen to the investors to demonstrate our vision for the feature. Those who are kindly offering us our assistance for the short, such as Pete Townshend, Barry Mason, Shaw Taylor, film and equipment suppliers, and the small army of cast and crew will be rewarded by return business from us once the funding is secured for the feature film.

As with many enterprises, without the godwill and help of people this short, as with many other films, would have been impossible to produce.
