Nearly New Hillman Avenger anyone?

#1 Post by arceye »

Needs a set of tyres by the look of things but very tidy.

Too pricey for me without the reserve but how do cars like this come around assuming the details are right?

Do they sit abandoned at the back of a showroom, in someones shed or what?..

I was all set to have a laugh about this but then I looked and wow! I love that. I do hope that these 5.60x13 cross plies are still available from one of the vintage tyre specialists as it would almost be a shame to put it onto modern radials.
Lovely, just lovely. 8-)

So then, it has been dismantled, 'dipped', fully resprayed/refitted...

Bag of 'leftover' trim clips included in sale.

It does really beg the question as to why doesn't it, but looking at Surface Processings site the car does look as if it was in fine fettle before, though with perhaps a bit of bodywork having gone on around the wing tops, possibly where wing mirrors had been fitted. The dipped shell did look good aswell.

Age-related, it can't meet modern test requirements and that was what happened to my previously unregistered Cinquecento, it was given a 1972 issue as its original plate fell off the system with it being off the road from when it was a few months of age, hence its unregistered status. The V5C states that [the Fiat] was manufactured in 1972 but the date of first registration is in October 2012.
I've since got the reg back and that's the only difference here, though once that Avenger has been issued with an age-related plate, there'd be nothing to prevent its being given a genuine issue of its period if it matters.

Why has it got Hillman avenger boot badge on the n/s front wing but not on the o/s?
Looks well dodgy.

My grandad bought one of these new in the early 70s to replace a triumph 2000 mk 1. He thought they were rubbish.

I once bought a T2000 with the remains of a copy of the daily mail in the space under the rear seat.

Coincidence? I don't think so.....
