No he is a good mechanic. The problem with aluminium alloy castings that have some age in them is they age harden. It was no bad thing that the Austin and the Lotus suffered failures because the Austin was repaired by an expert and the Lotus casting had a stress raising under cut where the lug had been machined for the caliper and that was where it failed. The new one had a nice radius. Obviously these hub castings have failed before. Don't be hard on Tim he is a very clever bloke, he just plays around in front of the camera.

I know how Fuzz operates, I worked with him for a couple of years at Practical Classics, he learnt his trade on buses, hence the big hammer

I wondered when I watched it, but after saving the frames where the doors are easiest seen, I'm not so sure so it must just be you and/or me?

It must be a reflection because the stripped shell and the doors had the same prepping and painted from the same batch of paint. It was checked for finish and matching before being reassembled. It was probably the depth of the shine.
The Lotus had a paint problem though it wasn't shown. There was a reaction between the primer and the top coat causing the yellow to have a greenish tint in places. It was given time to harden and then flatted out and resprayed giving it an extra coat. It was thoroughly inspected before having the panels fitted. It was then buffed to remove any fine scratches caused by the wing covers.
Mike Harris and Nathan the spray guy are very particular about getting matching spot on.

I think it will be repeated on Dave in 2017 but I can't be sure.
Apparently Car SOS received the highest viewing figures for any Nat Geo series.
