Restoration Show, Stoneleigh

#1 Post by Topaz »

Not been to this before but have advance ticket for this Sunday - what can I expect to see.

I note the tickets say 'Gates Open at 9.00am' but the adverts say the opening time is 10.00am. Doesthis mean that the outside Autojumble is open for business earlier - I don't want to turn up at 9.00 and hang around until 10.00 before I can actually see anything :D

Enjoyed my visit today - arrived about 9.20 and found doors open and everyone being allowed in, not just those with advance tickets although I guess more of those wanting to pay would have timed their arrival to be at 10.00.

Not as much there as the advertising suggests - unless I was walking around with my eyes shut I didn't see the 'Dedicated Land Rover Hall', I'm not sure of the suggestion that it was the largest indoor jumble in the Country and there were only about 10 stalls outside by the burger bar.

Got a few useful bits (both sills and inner wing for my pile of rust that has the shape of an Austin 1100), a few tools and other bits - for a total beginner like me, it was worth the visit and I'll go again - next will be NEC

March, maybe early April (GIYF here as I don't have my events info out with me) sees the annual NERC restoration show at the club's workshops in Washington which, for those of you who think that 50 miles is a long drive, is by Sunderland, about 40 odd miles to the South from here.

The club rents out spaces in their building to members so ongoing work can be watched, there's a car display outside on the grass too.
Well worth a look and Days Inns locally to the event are cheap as chips for somewhere to get your head down the night before. :)

The place is a couple of miles from the A1, which is now dual carriageway on that stretch, the journey from, for example - 'cos it's a trip I make at least once a quarter, MK to there is only around 4 Hours if taken by day.
