An invite to the Classic & performance car show 9-10th June

#1 Post by Shows-uk »

Hi all,

I hope you don’t mind me posting this on here

Join hundreds of Classic and Performance car owners and enthusiasts on 9th and 10th of June, for a two day show featuring the best examples from East Anglia, and even further afield. The show is on both Saturday and Sunday, although visitors and exhibitors may attend either or both days as they wish. Saturday is a display day only, with all trophies and awards being presented on Sunday 10th.

All pre 1973 show cars are admitted free (with driver) and later ‘Performance’ vehicles also admitted free with driver by advance booking. The form is available on this page to download. Pre 1973 classics do NOT need to pre register, but may choose to do so using the same form.

Whether you are an owner or just an enthusiast, you can camp at the showground to enjoy the show for both nights, or even to give yourself time to see the show and take in the local tourist attractions. The cost of admission for a non exhibitor is just £5 per day. The cost for camping overnight is £10.00, so an owner with a single passenger, visiting for both days of the show, and camping Saturday night, will spend just £20… the same cost as the average price of an overnight stay on a campsite in the Mid Suffolk tourist route without a car show!

As well as the cars, Stonham Barns complex has things to see and do for the whole family. The Owl and Bird of Prey Centre, Meerkat Castle, Golf Course and Driving Range, Restaurant, Garden Centre, Antique and Craft Shops, Crazy Golf, Fishing Lakes, and much more. Combine your visit to the Classic Car Show with a visit to the Owl Sanctuary and save 50% on the normal Owl Sanctuary admission price (Including Meerkat Castle)

Left this a bit late, haven't you? I sent off a registration form last week and haven't had a reply yet. Also, had I known about this a month ago, I would have given it a free plug in the East Anglian Practical Classics Newsletter, of which I am the editor.

All pre 1973 show cars are admitted free (with driver) and later ‘Performance’ vehicles also admitted free with driver by advance booking.
That leaves out quite a few models already classified as "classics".

This must be one of a small handful of shows of this size that still stipulates against later 70's cars.

A pre 73 MGB for example has no need to book, yet a jan 74 MGB of the same spec has to book?

Seems that you have the same preconceptions as the chancellor has on tax exemption.

All the larger shows I attend, have ammended the entry age as cars get older and reach either collectable or classic status.
The biggest BMC/BL show at peterborough have advanced there vehicle age to incorporate future collectables up to 1990.

Now I don't intend to start the "what is a classic" debate again, but surely a "don't have to book" for pre 73's is a very out dated aproach.

I'd like to wish the o/p every success with his first effort at show organising and promoting. Take on board what the chaps above have said and this could grow into a really big do within a year or two.

Just returned from the show. About a couple of dozen cars there and even fewer members of the public, although the latter might have been due to the weather, freezing cold and blowing a gale on this rather exposed site. My advice to ensure the success of future events is to engage the classic car community well in advance in these parts that means East Anglian Practical Classics and the Suffolk Vehicle Enthusiasts' Club. The more enthusiastic attenders plan their programme months ahead. Also publicise it in the classic car magazines, if it goes in the news section it won't cost anything.
Some nice cars there though, such as this Slough-built Traction

or this early PA Cresta

Rarest was probably this Standard Avon Special

But my award for the most bonkers vehicle goes to this Morris 14, with a Jaguar XJR supercharged straight six

And from next November it won't need an MoT

Nice Photos Pete.

Was Nice to see your Murena in the flesh.

It seemed a venue with potential, but the lack of cars was a bit of a problem, and my friend and I didn't stay long.

Maybe Sunday was better?

I was going to go to this show as I had an invite but was tempted to the local VW clubs show at jimmys Farm.

Lovely sunny day and loads of folk just chilling out..
