#1 Post by grumpy2 »

My sister in law is one the phone, shes 200 miles away claiming to have a dodgy clutch

is it adjustable?

difficulty engaging first and reverse. drive OK, no problems with other gears. I'm thinking cable clutch needs adjusting but don't know the car

cheers

I think that type of fiesta has a hydraulic clutch. The 1997 fiesta diesel i had as a company car certainly did. If it's only first and reverse she must be able to drive it home.
Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.

As Terry g said ,the clutch is hydraulically operated (My '98 and 2000 deisel ones were) and the slave cylinder is in the bellhousing so if that is faulty it's not a quick fix. It's a gearbox out so replace the clutch complete when you are at it.
