Originally (for the first five or so years since its inception) the monthly meet, in the car park by the Maccie D's/Toys (or maybe it's pets, same difference) 'R' us, Metro retail park, this meet was exclusively for members of the American car fraternity, the last few years have seen it become absolutely huge, with entries from all of the local clubs including the Nearly Everywhere Club for Pretty Well Anything, the Sunderland & District (né, Nissan Works Motor Club) Classic Vehicle Club and many more. The church commisioners, who own the land, did go through a phase of trying to shut it down, needless to say, the purveyors of burgers, pizzas and other immediate facilities to the ground weren't too happy and they reckon to make more on the one night each month than in the rest of the year.
People start to arrive around 6, louse any time up 'til about 10 depending on weather and whether the Barries in their modified modern tat decide to tip up and spoil things by behaving like a bunch of twunts. That doesn't happen very often though, and the event is generally good natured.
It's well documented with pictures at RR.
These from last June:
No need to be a member of RR or of any of the participating clubs, just arrive, park up and spend an enjoyable night talking cars with other like-minded folk.
