Tredegar Park (Newport) 18 September.

The 31st annual Leukaemia Rally took place. The weather was "British Summer" , which doesn't usually run over into September. It's only the second wet event they've had, though 2008 was called off due to the bad weather during August and the state of the field (Though the planned September slot turned out to be OK). The afternoon was an improvement over the morning, though it could hardly have been otherwise :!:

Here are some pictures.

The usual green Morris Minor has not long since driven by the shop but yesterday, I saw a C plate (85 - 86) Ford Capri 2.0S. It was a light metalic blue. I only saw the back; it looked in pretty good shape and must have been looked after to still be around. Not a common sight these days :!: It crossed my mind that had the tax exemption scheme not been meddled with, the Capri in question would now be tax exempt. Doesn't time fly; my mother had a new Vauxhaul Nova on a C plate  :!:

When I was in Germany in May, they had a old-car show or whatever it is called in Frankfurt, we got to see some amazing vehicles! For very short, though, but still - quite nice. I was actually hoping to catch another one on my next trip there.

Here are some snaps I have taken for Rust In Peace but I have given up waiting for them to be used so thought I would share them here instead. There are a couple of Mk1 escorts that were both very sound and the old Merc belonged to the chap who lived nextdoor to where we stayed. He had driven it from Holland to Corfu many years before and still had hopes of restoring it.

Wednesday is my day off, so as it was a nice day     , I took the Midget for a spin. It's a route I often do, sometimes in the car or sometimes on my bike (The type you pedal). As I was in the car (And therefore not sweaty and smelly) I stopped off at http://www.eatingoutguide.uk.com/adverts/2146.pdf, a place I can highly recommend. At Talybont on Usk, I spied a lovely red MGA Mark 2, parked outside the Star Inn (I hope the driver wasn't partaking of any Owd Rodger). I am still experimenting with a small video camera, that fits to the window via a suction pad and here is a still taken from the film -

Yes those are vents in the bonnet of the Midget :!:

As a PS to this post, I have just seen an Austin Gipsy drive past :!:

No pictures sorry but I saw a very nice looking TR6 this afternoon. I was travelling along the A5 from Telford towards Cannock at around 3:30pm this afternoon (picked up some seats for my Land Rover). The TR6 was a nice powder blue soft top with a black roof. Why had the guy got the roof up this weather? Anyway, if it was you check your near side rear indicator! It (the indicator) wasn't very good, possibly a bad earth? The rest of the car was sweet :)

This mornings tally:
1964 EH Holden Special
1972ish TA22 Toyota Celica
1978 HX Holden Kingswood wagon (estate)
1971 VW Super Beetle

I parked next to a beautifully restored white Hillman Imp the other day, just as it was reversing out. Nice girl driving it gave me a huge smile. I'd like to think the smile was for me, not the Beetle I was driving.

1966 Austin Mini Super-Deluxe - Audrey
1969 Morris Mini Van - Desert Assault Van
