My new car!!!!!!!!!

#1 Post by s-type »

Yay! after more than 10 years (13 to be precise ) of looking and missing out on 2 that got shipped abroad... Not to mention laughing at deluded fools with ones rotting in fields that they think are worth £1000's!

I have finally got my new car!

Its very young, infact as its 1977 its maybe only just be classic... (but its pre 1979 and that's all that matters in this game)

I will post photos tomorrow!!!

clue 1.
Its HUGE

clue 2
Its Jaguar group - naturally

clue 3
It came with a interesting free gift.... :o

Anyone guess it?
1967 S-type Jaguar -Running like a dream.
1971 DS420 Hearse. -Now actually running and has just run a 16.7 Quarter Mile @ Santa Pod. - bloody hell!

Oh and your 1995 Volvo is not a classic. Still think it is? Take it to a classic car show.....

About 10 years ago we used to use one of those as a delivery van! I worked for a computer company in wembley and a sign written hearse got us lots of people ringing up (several to complain we shouldn't be using it as a delivery van).
the no1 question is though; does it run?

So…. Condition…

I got it from a Lithuanian breaker, it was scrapped (but not on the paperwork, I have the V5) 2 years ago. Its sat in field ever since.
The engine turns on the starter and the gearbox oil is a healthy colour. There is no spark so I need to fix that, but after my previous exploits with the S-Type I am sure I can get it sorted! I suspect coil… Would that cause the points not to spark?

Rust….
1 small hole in nearside sill, 1 huge hole in offside sill, 2 small holes on the floor pan. Paintwork needs a polish and some localised cosmetic repairs. The roof, which is wooden panels needs fixing! I need to empty out the small pond in the foot wells from the leaking roof, but its all good!!!!!!

I would say maybe a year or two, for the restoration, then I can move on to getting it ready to either drag race or street custom…

Interesting choice, it should look good when it's finished.

Always check that your not about to reverse over your tool box before moving the car...
