What classic vehicles have you seen?
Re: What classic vehicles have you seen?
Parked next to a 1970 Holden Torana in very nice nick today. Unfortunately I was late for my train, so no pics.

Saw forum member VND's rather tasty Volvo 340 today as I was waiting to pull out of the Shell forecourt on Beach Road in N. Shields.
Eventually, after a further dozen or so cars had passed the exit of the forecourt, I got out into the traffic. Nae worries Ben, I wasn't in a hurry to get into the traffic anyway.

Re: What classic vehicles have you seen?
I managed to get some quick pics of the Torana:

It's loosely based on the Viva HB and was available with a range of four and six cylinder engines. This one is a 2850cc six with three speed manual on the column. The longer nose is the giveaway of a six cylinder version.
Today I saw a a 1972 Toyota Corolla KE20 and a 1981 Holden Gemini four door (loosely related to the Chevette) and an early 80's RX7 series 1.
Cheers,

I was going to say it looks a lot like a Viva.

Re: What classic vehicles have you seen?
Today I took the V8 to Novatech in Slough (http://www.nt-r.com/), for setting up on their rollers. The proprietor has a rather tired Mk2 AH Sprite, that requires restoration. En route my father spied a 1960s Bentley going the other way. I also spotted an H reg Cavalier. Whilst not yet old enough to qualify as a classic, it’s not far away now and it is certainly a rarity these days.
After we finished at Novatech, we popped up to Nuneaton, where my Traveller is having some body repairs done, that should see it as I want it. En route we spied an MGB GT on a transporter. We saw the signs for Gaydon but there was no time to stop off.
At Nuneaton, the Traveller was in company with a couple of classic Ferraris and Jaguars. They may be faster than my Traveller but my Traveller has a bigger boot
The Traveller was looking good
.
On the final leg of the journey, we passed a Green Goddess going the other way and also an unusual looking old blue bus.

Saw a pale green early sixties Beetle, a blue Lancia Beta HPE and an orange Dolly Sprint on the road today. Plus a 59 Chevy Biscayne in lovely red over white on California plates being unloaded from a shipping container. I love passing that container yard, they are often loading or unloading interesting cars.

Re: What classic vehicles have you seen?
An orange Sprint in Australia? Interesting. Every Sprint built by Leyland Australia was finished in yellow, so you've seen one of the following things:
A replica, based around the shell of an 8 valve Dolomite.
A car whose owner couldn't live with yellow, so had it painted. (The Philistine!
)
An import from the UK.
An 8 valve Dolomite with Sprint wheels and an aftermarket vinyl roof.

Re: What classic vehicles have you seen?
It might have been yellow. It was dark, it was on an underpass and was gone pretty quickly. I am assuming it was a Sprint because of the roof. The more mundane Dollies are rare in Aus.
On my morning commute this morning I saw:
1961 XK Ford Falcon (first model made in Aus).
1984 XE Ford Falcon Estate.
1978 LX Holden Torana four door sedan, very original but very shabby.
My favourite container yard was unloading a LHD Jaguar XK140 with rough paint. I think someone is going to be very excited about picking up their new project today.
Cheers,
Brett.
