The machine with the arrow pointing to it has rectifier diodes. Meaning its definitely an alternator.
I can see no connection to the rotor field coil.
Also green number one has a full wave rectifier.

There is a connection but it's in very faint ink and goes to 2 aka the voltage regulator ...

There's a certain basic honesty about having a little piece of Trafalgar Square adorning your metalwork IMHO!

Re: Ferroflex HT Cable - good kit or load of sh!t?
Thanks for that Terry - the same seller lists the same set for the Rover 825/827 Honda V6 (not to be confused with the later Rover engined KV6 825) for the same price. They may be slightly better than the OE Honda leads as they are 10mm rather than 8mm and the "blurb" implies they are good leads ...

Re: Ferroflex HT Cable - good kit or load of sh!t?
That's the plan Terry - some bits aren't available but i can re-use those bits from the original leads as they aren't so critical. I'm looking to make them out of 8mm HT cable as per the OE spec, preferably in blue (as i like blue) or red as the originals are red.
The pattern leads i had were 7mm ...

Hmm, had a look at the Bougicord website (or tried to!) and not over impressed but thanks anyway.

Re: Aluminium welding with a MIG
Thanks for that the 3 of you. As it goes i'm planning on using stainless to repair an exhaust section (well, build a replacement section really) and need to weld it together. Made the last (original) section using thin-wall mild steel tube and predictably it's corroded on the welds but the rest of ...

Ferroflex HT Cable - good kit or load of sh!t?
Hi All,
after suffering the second total (and sudden) failure of the HT leads during my ownership of my Rover 827 Sterling (Honda V6 powered) yesterday, i'm looking to find some better quality leads.
To put that into perspective, the first set of leads died at the tender age of 18 years so to be ...

Re: Aluminium welding with a MIG
Sorry for the thread-jack but it is related - kind of!
Does anybody know if stainless steel can be welded with a gas-less MIG? I was told the other day by someone who welds trucks for a living that i don't even need to change the wire, just set my welds up and away i go with the MIG torch. Me being ...

Re: Insurance - what a rip-off!
That's something else i don't get, loading insurance for an import, grey or otherwise. For the most part, most "normal" cars are just overseas market versions of what we already have here, e.g. the Eunos Roadster aka Mazda MX-5 and are mechanically identical. What on earth then makes them more ...

Re: Insurance - what a rip-off!
Thanks, i'll give them a go as well. Only thing i've found with them is they've gone all "Insurance Supermarket" (think confused.com in a shop to see what i mean) with the fastest throughput imaginable. However if they still have a modified vehicles department then i could be good to go.
