It is fun entertainment. Not much use for buying a new car but it is just about the only comedy on the TV these days that has not been strangled by Political Correctness. Recent few series have not been as good. They script too much these days whereas the earlier series were more spontaneous and improvised.
I like the fact that they say edgy things and get in trouble for it, Mexicans, Lorry Drivers etc. The world needs more of this, not all the free speech stifling PC, too frightened to offend anyone crap!
I'm glad they destroy Morris Marinas and not Morris Minors. Their first trip across the USA was the funniest hour on TV for years.

TG's harmless fun with occasional bouts of serious car-related stuff being thrown in for good measure. I find that most - possibly all - of those who criticise the show are people who haven't watched it but didn't like it because their mate told them not to.
I managed to nab a chinwag with JC at a show a few years ago and found him to be a most engaging, highly intelligent and charismatic chap whose TV persona is carefully constructed to take the p*ss out of those who don't get his particular brand of irony. Naming no owners' clubs in particular but they know who they are.
