For a car built between 1987 and 1991, there's one absolute must have accessory, especially if aircon wasn't specified by the original owner. Drum roll please, for the beads:



Imagine the depth of my joy at discovering that Dad hadn't binned that when he PX'd his 1990 Renault 21 GTX against a new car, way back in 1995 IIRC.
The reason that the monofil looks somewhat brighter and more apparent than you'd expect is that he once broke the thing and then spent days finding the beads, restringing them with stronger monofil and tying each one of these tiny knots by hand, using only two small pairs of scissor pliers to nip [the knots] up.
So I was up visiting the folks today and Dad gave the thing to me as a present, and it's not even my birthday.

Those seat bead things on a hot sweaty day with no aircon are good. Quite comfy.

Eye brows on headlamps of pink cars.

Babies first stool laminated and hanging from the mirror.

A slab of cheese left on the dashboard on a hot day.

A friend of mine reckoned the beaded thing was a real boon for him. He was a rep/sales manager and was in the car (latterly a Mazda 6) for most of his time. He had started to work on farms as a lad, but ruined his back - which also suffered when he started with the "firm" (Milk Marketing Board) and drove a Moggy followed by a number of Escorts before the MMB went to Peugeots and the privatised firm offered Mazdas. I think he still uses the beaded thing (or a replacement) on the car he bought from the firm when he retired.

I just looked at the beaded seat jobbies on eBay and found that not only are they still readily available new, their prices vary massively between a penny under the tenner to upwards of fifty seven Pounds!
So although the thing is functional and certainly kept my shirt and the car seat dry on my drive back to my place, they're not really sufficiently of the period to be suitable for inclusion in this thread.. Hold on while I grab some tweezers to get that bullet out of my foot!


What about an in-car dream catcher? Surely those are only ever found in Japanese cars of a certain age, usually those owned by tightwads frugal members of the local small business communities?



Should that van not be in lane one? Proper cheese though, IMHO and so are the good old fluffy dice, a pair of which I found when I went to get into my Morris Oxford one morning to go to work. Clearly placed there by the fluffy dice fairy, evil twin brother of the tooth fairy.

I had a little box with buttons that you press when someone cuts you up. The buttons make different noises from screaming to machine guns.

Bullet hole transfers are still available.

I am going to a car show I should stick bullet holes on my Shadow.
