looks like it was the previous owner 10yrs... looks like he enjoyed it though with that mileage! Could I afford the Petrol? Doubt it!

Or the repairs. The main reason why my father sold his Frazer Nash, back in the early 1960s, was the potential for big bills (Especially after he left their employ). He sold the car for £795, which was a reasonable sum back then (More than the equivilent of £3000 today; despite his concerns the car was a good one and I don't remember that the engine had been rebuilt, when we saw the purchaser still with it in 1974/5) but the cost of a replacement engine and gearbox back then was £750. In 1951, the car had cost £3500 (My father was not the first owner!!!), so depreciation is nothing new. Up to a point, if you can't afford one new or at least a good one, you can't afford one. Mind you, at going on for £1000 000, if my father still had it, could he afford not to now sell it :?: It would be one hell of a decision to make. With interest rates as they are, I suppose unless you needed the money or an income from it, you'd do better to keep the car.

African Benzes are notorious for their outstanding ability to transform solid steel into fresh air so anything from that era needs to be much more carefully checked than these indestructible German ones from the late '80s/early '90s.
The seller of the first does say that it's had wings but usually, when they're taken off, the inner wings' structural areas are mostly found to be rotten too. Don't get me wrong; they are potentially good buys but there's a very good reason for their low values. Take a very tiny person with eight double jointed fingers on every one of their three hands to check all of the hidden bits then haggle for at least the cost of a large barrel of Ensis V off the asking price, you'd be needing that.
Keep the treatment up though, and you could end up with a very cheap car that'll last long enough to provide some enjoyment. :thumbs:
