Does anyone have any experience of fitting front inertia seat belts to a 1958 2 door Morris Minor. The car in question doesn't have any mounting points at present and a search and results of the web and the MM forums is limited. Ideally I'm looking for pictures or a step by step guide so that I can help the person who asked me if I could help. He has apparently contacted most if not all of the MM suppliers but none of them have been able or willing to provide the necessary information (or at least that's what I've been told) even though they sell the belts. Any help would be appreciated and I can pass it on.

I fitted them to my 1968 one about 15 years ago. I bought a kit from ESM that just bolted in.
I can take you some pics in the light tomorrow if you like (you will have to forgive the rear "door cards" being out of the car at present as I am re-covering them).

Terry, that would be appreciated. I know that your model of car would have the mounting nuts fitted as standard ready for fitting as from 1965 they would have to have seat belts fitted as standard.

As I said the car in question doesn't.

If you want I can take some measurements to show you where they would go. The reels themselves are attached to the sills, the "shoulder" bracket is on the rail under the rear window and the buckle is bolted through the transmission tunnel.

For the RR I have had to make some new mounts for the seatbelts due to corrosion, 3mm steel load spreaders about 6" by 4" on the bottom of the floor to spread the load with nuts tacked on the back. you can get to the rear of all the mounting places if you have nimble fingers so you shouldn't have too much problem getting a set fitted if you are brave with a drill.
