Would you take on a car that has been stored in a garden for 25 years? Right now it is a bit over £1000, cheap for an MG A or expensive for some rotten wood and corroded steel?

To be fair he's making it quite clear that he's selling it for spares, not a resto project. Nonetheless, I'd love to see someone take that on - just as long as it isn't me!

Why do people do that? Surely after 4-5 years you know you're never going to restore the car, sell it on instead of leaving it to rot!

There won't be any wood in an MGA (That went out with the TF) but it's all complete and I expect the Coupe will have let in less water than a drophead. One this is for sure, it would cost more to fix properly, than to buy a good one. As a source of spares, I suppose you'd say the same; very little will be serviceable. Makes you wonder hos it came to be left there like that so long. Twenty five years ago it would have been beyond the banger stage and worth money. Looks like a Mk2, so will have the 1622 cc engine. I'd like to see it restored.
