Yes the title is correct
I was out shopping by myself, and had to pick up some pasta sauce ready for tea.The food shop
was next to a cash generators shop which is basically a pawnbrokers for electrical and other stuff!
I thought as the astras stereo is acting up O will see what
they might have.
As I wandered round they didn't have any car stereos on display, but they did have a selection of
laptops. And they were cheap, I thought I might have a look and see whet they had so I can use it
with the car's ecu or generally outside as the old one was past ithad it since new in 2005!
There was one marked at £30.00 I had to ask why as it looked in too good a nick! They said it had
screen problems as it kept going from bright to dim like a car indicator, and that it wouldn't boot and
there was no recovery disc.
I had a good vibe when I was getting it into the bios, and bought it for £30 spares or repair with no
warranty!!
The hard drive was swapped out with a known good formatted on and windows 7 home went straight
on no problem. As the laptop was running on the desktop the screen brightness did start going like a
cars indicator but so did the batterylife/charging/mains icon. This ment only one thing the was an
issue with the battery! I shut down the laptop, removed the battery, plugged the charger back in and
started it back up. There has been no problems with the laptop since, and it's previous hard drive was
formatted and checked and is fine.
A replacement battery has been ordered off ebay for £14 inc p&p
So that is a total of £44.00 for a perfectly good Toshiba Satellite C650 running Windows 7 Home Prem
(license still on the bottom) which is only a couple of years old and well over £400 when new!
I'm using it know
Might have a look in the others to see what else is going.
