Colleagues at work this morning wondering about my apparent lack of customer concern and extreme frustration during a lengthy remote support session with a total computer f8ckwit.

I cover the phone and mouth the words "Its my StepDad".

The entire room nods their heads in sudden understanding and sympathy...

.... I recently rang into 'tech support', for help with setting up a client till. Guy [thought I was on mute] consulted with a colleague.... "I've got a wanker tech on the line....".

To be fair..... he probably gets rung up all the time, like, and you might get a bit jaded.

No offence!

One place I worked had closed it's IT department prior to privatisation and a new company was formed which kept all the old staff (I was a new employee). The management decided that the "PC support" staff should be multi-skilled and answer the phone and advise, go to repair or pass the call to BT for line faults etc.

One lad (who reminded me of Dylan on the Magic Roundabout) only ever wanted to work with back-ups for the mini and mainframe computers and run the printers (from large chain printers through to one or two smaller impact ones) - it was old equipment in the mid 90s! However, he was transferred to the helpdesk as part of the "you must learn all tasks" regime.

He was heard to say "If you don't f***ing like the f***ing service, you needn't f***ing bother to f***ing ring again." before cutting the call off.

He was back in his server room before the customer had got through to the manager.

I don't think the company lasted more than a couple of years either!
