Ay up!

The Airbag light has now come on on the Pug. We've stripped down the steering wheel, no obvious problem.

Anyone any ideas?

disconnect the battery, remove the airbag and test the wiring from the plug in the wheel back to the ECU. It could possibly that the ECU is reading the wrong impedance because of a failed rotary coupler (or whatever pug use to get the wire from the column to the wheel) or dirty contacts. I have never known an airbag to cause the SRS light to come on but disconnecting one with the battery connected and faulty wiring have done. Does the 306 have a memory in the SRS system that requires a "dealer" reset?

The usual problem with Pug airbag warnings is a poor contact in the connector under the seat. Try giving this a clean. If it does need a dealer reset, the kit do do this is available fairly cheaply on ebay. I paid £85 for the diagnostic interface and software to do any Peugeot or Citroen from the mid-nineties to the present. Try posting on one of the Peugeot forums to see if anyone in your area has got one and would be prepared to sort yours out for a few beer tokens.

Ay up!

When we traced the wiring we found that the plug under the seat had been disconnected! Doh!
