There's something remarkably similar in a recent post on this very forum. Blowed if I can remember where I saw it, but one of the admins has specialist knowledge of Matra and I suspect that he'll come along to tell us why that red one just has to be saved.
I like the shape of it, it's different and as €1600 is now worth about 4p, it's maybe quite cheap.

You called?

Yes that is a 530A, the first wholly Matra designed sports car. It featured a 1.7 litre Ford Taunus V4 engine, mid mounted, and a removeable targa roof. 9609 530s were built, including 3731 of that model. They are rare in this country and I know people in the club who have travelled to Europe to buy a project. I will circulate the details round the Matra community, thanks for the tip. Yes, you did see one recently on the forum, that was a later "cost-reduced" 530SX with fixed frogeye headlamps and no targa top on the Footman James stand at the NEC.

Personally I think it looks bloody awful, but I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Not the best looking Matra, I have to say, the Murena is

Collectability of a classic isn't just based on looks, rarity, innovation, history, quirkiness all count as well.

Hmm, granted the Murena is a pretty little thing, but is the best-looking
car to carry the Matra name not this:
(And that one has a Fiesta XR2 engine for some strange reason).
