Well!! the fog was as thick as ever till after 6pm but the damp weather had
well and truly set in! (great for my arthritis NOT)

I called Flavell's, and the oil cooler radiator was ready. I picked it before I went
and did the weekly shop, and forgot about the radiator and put bags of shopping
on top of it. So I will spend some time straightening the fins back out before I fit
it into the car.

The pipes have been left long so I can trim them down if needed.

I'm chomping at the bit to get things done on the old girl, but this weather is
holding me back!

Okay today went well till lunchtime, the power steering pump came out with no
problems. The belt tensioner loosed off and was easy to do.

The afternoon was spent trying to remove the plastic pulley off the shaft of the
power steering pump, emphasis on the word 'trying', as after three hour of trying
to get it off even making things to grab a hold of the metal lip to try and pull it
off after the pulley pullers I had didn't fit or work!

I had a bad turn, hen my knee ad back went and things got knocked off the bench.
The pulley is now missing part of outer edge and there are cracks near to the shaft.

I have ordered a replacement, which is coming from the States, so I will be waiting
on that coming. I will try to sort the tranny cooler out tomorrow and start back on
the wiring if the weather is good enough.

More delays on getting this girl back on the road!!

Today I removed the aluminum U pipe connecting the oil cooling pipes, and
connected up the oil cooler radiator. I put the brackets in for the old oil cooler
& used some tie/cable wraps to hold the oil cooler radiator in for the moment.

I will be getting some pipe clips/brackets at the weekend when I'm out to hold
the oil cool radiator properly. But otherwise it's a nice snug fit and the full height
of the radiator body between the tanks.

Oh I have also ordered a proper pulley puller suitable for alternators and power
steering pumps, along with a new set of Neon car mats after something rather
pungent was spilt on the front ones.

Sunday I will be not be working on the old girl, as I will be popping down to
Hartlepool marina as there is a car meet (all types of vehicles)

The pulley is coming from Bloomington CA
The alternator/power steering pulley puller came in the post. It's brand new
in the packet.

Image

So I popped outside to the old power steering pump to see how well it fits onto
the pulley.(I kept the old one just to do this!) As you can see from the photo
the bits that are supposed to go into the groove are way too thick.

I didn't want to disturb the parents with the grinder so I will do a little work on
the puller with the grinder on Monday when they are at work. So by the time I've
finished they will be a perfect fit! Things are never straight forward are they!!!

Just gotten back from Hospital. After pushing myself yesterday, and slightly too
much insulin at lunch time and being late to get too tea which I missed as I ended
up in Hospital due to a serious hypo. I have already said enough, but the doctors
wanted to run more tests on me than was necessary so I said I don't need them
and discharged myself. So I will be taking it easy for the rest of the week.
(Yes I scared my parents to death!!)

Here is what I did this afternoon before the health scare!

Here are the two clamp arms of the pulley puller, the left is how thick the bits are
on both ends before being trimmed with the grinder. The right is the end result.
I have only done one end as this can be used in in a few ways.

Image

I had to put the main block of the puller in a visa so I could use it as I don't have
good enough strength to hold it and turn the socket.

Image

I did get the pulley of the pump. The new pulley could be here anywhere between
the 5th and the 15th of October. I will clean the old pulley to see how bad it is, I
may use it on the other pump temporary to see if it is okay.

Power steering Pulley update it is now at Hebron, KY 41048

Although not too clever, I connected up the battery to the car and knocked the
ecu adapter. One or two cable broke connection so when I started up the old girl
to move her infront of the garage from the inspection pit she wasn't firing on all
cylinders!

I need to get the front right wheel off to get to the belt as it has dropped and
come off it's run! Also with the car in it's new position I am less exposed to the
north sea blast, and don't have to worry about falling backwards when working on
the electrics.

I may have mentioned this in the past, but not necessarily on this thread about
the use of dishwashers to clean or degrease car parts! I did mention to my mother
that I have done this in the past (or she could have killed me!) but as I dug out
the second set of intrepid ecu plugs, I noticed that there was some dust and dirt
in there so I asked her if she wouldn't mind me putting the through a cycle in the
dishwasher!

She agreed and I mention that some people use the dishwasher for engine parts,
her reply was"I put the horses bridle through it every so often!" you could have
knocked me down with a feather!

Anyway, the plugs are drying out on the radiator, so I can do a bit of work on the
old girl tomorrow depending on health and weather.

Just make sure & rinse the dishwasher thoroughly before you next poach fish in there. Mmm, cobbler cooked in the dishwasher, beautiful!
