tried that, it took me a week to find the off button

hello again chaps, im trying to download a programme for my old epson scanner & its asked me whether its windows 7 32 or 64 bits?? im really confused now could someone please explain the difference??
edit! please use words i can understand

assuming you are running windows 7
press the start button
right click on computer
press properties

a program will start running
in the middle there is a section labelled "system"
there is a row labelled "system type" it will say either
"32-bit Operating System"
or "64-bit Operating System"

if it says "32-bit Operating System" then you have a 32-bit Operating System, you can work out the rest for yourself

Just started running Windows 7 Home...something. It's quick but Word is far too fussy. I'm having a problem loading me AutoCad 2002 on it. Basically it doesn't want to know and AutoCad doesn't support it. If they think I'm going to spend £6/7K buying a new AutoCad they can bugger off!! I've still got my drawing board and kit!

have you tried compatibility mode?
You can use Window XP mode (which is a bit of a pain and no longer supported so don't surf the web from within it!) if all else fails.

Cheers Terry. It's probably because my copy has a striped shirt and a patch over one eye!

I had the same problem with an old epson film scanner even with a genuine windows copy and the original driver disc it still wouldnt work with my laptop and epson no longer support it either.

you should never use the supplied software / drivers with any product, they are always out of date even when the machine is new.
Epson may not have 64 bit drivers for your scanner but x86 Windows XP drivers usually work in Windows 7 (x86 version) even if it complains about compatibility while installing.
