That Giardiniera is a whole lot newer than they think it is! I'd put it at around 1974-'75, long after saloon production had ended.

Still would though

, as long as it's been neutered and has had all of its injections to date.

Has it sold or was it just too sexy for its shirt? What was it? Is there a prize for guessing correctly?

My guess: It's a GRP-bodied Renault 12 break that's been modified with an R18 Diesel engine and automatic transmission.

Mate, fight the urge to buy a Primera. They're largely reliable, pleasant to drive, and apart from front suspension/steering links that are unique to the dealer network and can't be substituted for anything that costs less than several hundred quid for used ones, they're cheap for parts too.
I hadn't realised you could get such a thing as a R4 van with 4wd. How on earth does that work with the 4's differing wheelbase lengths from side to side? Most odd, which means that I'd probably like it.

primera dream has been destroyed by the fact the ad was slightly misleading, as you said the steering links etc need changing cambelt & the ad read 170 000km but the real figure was 290 000 km.. the vendor said it was an accident

so i will continue to look for a cheap diesel estate car.. that said i quite liked the look of the r4 van
