Another job done this time on my 911, after power coating the front sway bar, brackets and fitting new Powerflex bushes .
I needed a bit of help, got that from my brother who is over from Spain for a visit.
.
We are still waiting on a new full loom for the wife's Karmann cab beetle . Then once fitted new roof , paint job car then that is a 7 year restoration finished .
This house move is taking ages looking for the right one . I just want a double garage, with some space for a workshop etc.
First thing being bought a 2 post car lift, fed up working with just axle stands and jacks and down so low .
It just makes a job so much harder or is it just me?.

I've just finished adjusting my doors so they open more easily and don't stick out at the bottom. I thought it would take an hour, it took 4!

Re: Today I have been ?????????????? to my classic
Rewind back to Wednesday, I finally fixed the dynamo on the Morris. The red light had began to flicker and then it was on all the time. I noticed it flicker on the way back from the MOT.
It's only a few years since I cleaned the points in the control box and not a lot of miles have been added to the milometer, so I tried my spare reconditioned dynamo. No joy. I tried a new control box, having established that the wiring was OK. Light went out and then came back on again. I had been working on the assumption that the recon dynamo had been reconditioned properly but decided to check it for an output. I connected the two terminals together and put a voltmeter on to the wire. Reading was nil. By this time, Classic & Vintage Dynamos Limited (Mansfield) had reconditioned the old dynamo, along with another dynamo and starter, that are spares for my father's MG Midget (The starter on the Morris is one of theirs). I must say the presentation of the recond units is far and away better than that of the local place.
As soon as I tried the Classic & Vintage Dynamos Limited unit, I had 20 V at nearly no revs and in no time at all, the regulator had been set for both output and cut out. The moral of the story is don't assume something is working because it is new or reconditioned
I will be sending the supposedly recond unit to Classic & Vintage, as I like to have a spare and I’d like to know what Carl’s Starters and Alternators have done wrong.

Today I have been fitting a new loom on my wife's beetle, will try and have it finished by the end of the week. Then start up the bug first time in six years after I rebuilt the engine.

Re: Today I have been ?????????????? to my classic
I had to fix a missfire on the range on Wednesday night, dizzy cap looked fine as did the arm (I cleaned them as they were off anyway), leads were ok but i bunged on spares, still running poorly so i pulled the plugs one at a time, no.8 took 2 hours to remove! gggggggggrrrrrrrrr after accidentally snapping the plug and LOTS of rude words it finally came out and all 8 were fine so bunged a spare back in that one, put the origional leads back, started it up and the missfire is gone.
I am puzzled but pleased that doing "nothing" fixed the fault. Sods law it will be back tonight but atleast I have 4 days to fix it properly.
