I will admit to knowing less than nothing about these cars but your restoration skills are amazing. That looks superb.
Only question, what is the "air tube" for?

- Repairs to the inner wing included small flange sections like this
- IMGP4976.JPG (52.83 KiB) Viewed 1827 times

- Crease from previous accident damage removed to allow for correct fitting of suspension mountings - trial fit at this stage ensures simple assembly once the bodyshell is painted

I'm not the only one that's been busy - Keith has been advancing the mechanical inspections and sourcing the parts

- Front hubs - brakes were all rebuilt recently so not too much to do here apart from strip / prep / paint / reassemble - brake hoses although newish are U/S as they left them twisted / chaffing (whoever did the previous work)

- Steering box gets a clean bill of health - just requires prep & paint - just as well has to access it you have to split the case which is braised together

- Upper yokes - early type was mechanical (fitted / lower in the image) & rubber (upper in the image) the car had some form of not quite correct hybred / Hienz 57 fitted when it arrived so we probably have to utilise some of our stock to get the set up right

- King pins show 4 thou wear and are rust pitted so these are on the scrap bin list

Terry - The air tube was fed from a cowel on the engine side of the inner wing which transfered fresh air in to the car

- Air cowel sits behind front grille and directs fresh air up the air tube

- This flap sits between the inner bulkhead / inner wing and adjusts the amount of air you require in the car

Bit more done today

- Air tube now fully welded
- IMGP4980.JPG (52.16 KiB) Viewed 1803 times

- Air cowel rewelded in situ & cleaned up
- IMGP4981.JPG (62.61 KiB) Viewed 1803 times

- Noticed that a factory weld had split on the front bulkhead cross member - so this got sorted at the same time
- IMGP4979.JPG (74.62 KiB) Viewed 1803 times
So thats both front inner wings sorted
